The Come-back
Jun 16
First of all I want to say that I’m sorry I didn’t get to update this blog sooner as I promised
It’s been a really busy week and I couldn’t find the time plus some technical problems so its going to be a long post too…..
So a week ago we landed in NYC and got to our apartment here at: Chelsea
after we quickly settled down we went to explore the city we hopped on the “city sights NY” bus (and here is a tip for tourists – you can find two companies that offer tourists a guided bus ride around the city one with red buses and one with blue buses we find the blue buses company has a better deal – 2 days hop on/off on any of their routes – downtown, uptown, night tour and Brooklyn plus you get a free boat ride in the circle line that going around Manhattan and a free tickets to the empire state building observatory all that for 54$ a person. )

so on the first day we did the downtown tour we get off near the Brooklyn bridge and walked across it – beautiful walk with great view of the city after that we went to times square probably the heart of Manhattan – the most lit square in the world (and here is a another tip for tourists – in times square there you will be approached a lot by people who will try to sell you ticket to a “comedy show” after some hassling we got a pair of tickets for 20$ – the comedy show isn’t that funny its only about 30 minutes and there is a 2 drinks minimum for a person and those drinks are kind of pricy – so do not waste your money on the “comedy show” there are a lot of other things to do or see with that money. )After Times Square we went to the empire state building observatory for another great view from above of the city with its night lights and that ended day 1.
On the next morning we went to the Rockefeller observatory called – “top of the rock” to get a great view of the city from above with daylight. After that we did the circle line boat ride around Manhattan which was great because of the guide (whose name I don’t remember) was very funny and informative.
After the boat ride we hopped on the night tour bus and did the entire tour that goes all around downtown and over the Manhattan bridge and into Brooklyn and back to down town Manhattan and that concluded day 2 and also the first part of NYC now we go to Boston.
We woke up early the next morning and hurry to get on the bus to Boston (here is another tip – we find that the best way and the cheapest way to get to Boston is by bus there are several companies that do the NYC-Boston line we went on the “Bolt” bus they leave on time and offer power sockets for every seat and free Wi-Fi internet the trip to Boston is around 4 hours).
In Boston we stay at the “Holiday Inn Express” which we found as a great hotel – located 3 minutes walking from a subway station. We took the subway to the Boston commons and started walking along the “Freedom Trail” which goes along the historical sites in Boston. we ate and shopped at the Quincy market – which today is filled with a lot of food stands with all the kind of food you can imagine after that we returned to our hotel to rest for the next day – which is going to be really eventful.
On the next morning we woke up early and went straight to the long wharf at the Boston harbor to board the Whale watch cruise – we boarded the catamaran and shipped an hour into the Atlantic Ocean and then we saw our first whale – a humpback whale who gave us a show – flapping on the water going down and emerge from the sea falling on its back that went on for a while then we spotted another group of humpback whales and it was a mother whale with her two calfs the youngest calf came very close to our ship curious about us – that gave us a really close up view of this magnificent creature , we took a lot of pictures and videos then it was time to go back to Boston harbor.

After the whale watch we went back to our hotel to get ready for the main event – our first U2 concert out of seven in this trip, the concert was held at the Gillette Stadium which is in Foxboro way out of Boston – we took the train to the nearest station then a taxi to the stadium (the stadium is the home for the New England Patriots football team – on days where they play there is a train straight to the stadium area – which wasn’t the deal for the U2 concert and we and everybody else wonder about that). We were really impressed by the stadium it was very big and modern filled with restaurants and very well organized.
For this concert we had a great seating tickets located on the front-side of the stage , and let me tell you something about this stage – it looks amazing in the pictures and videos – its more amazing seeing it for real in action when David Bowie song “space oddity” start playing the stage become alive pouring smoke every where it’s really looks like its going to take off like a spaceship then U2 come on stage and they surprised by starting with the song “Magnificent” instead of “Breath” which was the opener song until that show.
Its hard to explain in word how great and amazing a U2 concert is especially in this tour with this amazing stage so I’m going to let the pictures and videos do the talking:

![DSC00690 [640x480] DSC00690 [640x480]](http://www.erankuziel.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/DSC00690-640x480-300x225.jpg)
After the show ended we hurry out to find a taxi to the train station which was very hard because everybody were doing the same thing – after an exhausting search we were lucky enough to catch one and we get to the train station which was packed with fans from the show everybody cramped into the train and we were on our way back to Boston.
On the next day we took the Boston “super duck tour” which is an amphibious vehicle that drives around the city and also we get to go into the harbor and see the city from the harbor after that we went to see the IMAX 3D movie: “Whales and Dolphins” at the IMAX theater near the Boston aquarium then we said bye bye to Boston and hurried to the Bolt bus back to NYC.
New-York part 2: day 6 on the morning we went to the 5th avenue went in some famous stores: the apple store, the f.a.u Schwartz toy store, Disney store and the NBA store…..
After some shopping we went for a stroll in Central park saw some squirrels and some ducks at the pond, beautiful sculptures and a lot of New-Yorkers relax, jog or just hanging out in the park.
From the park we went to the museum of natural history spend a few hours in its great exhibitions.
And guess what it was time for the second U2 concert this time it was held in the “Giants Stadium” which is in New-Jersey so I took the train there and this time I had a seat in the upper deck right in front of the stage – great view, Muse where the opening act and they were great then came U2 and blew everybody’s mind off.
Day 7: U2 day – today is the second concert in the “Giants Stadium” and we had a GA tickets (general admission) so we got early to the stadium – around 10 am and waited in line (the concerts start around 9pm) as we got to the line we got our numbers: 303-304 and set down , we were kind of rookies in GA queuing and were amazed at what the more experienced people in the queue brought with them – from the fundamentals chairs and tents to large coolers with lots of beers and meat , BBQ equipment , electric guitars with amps , board games , and of course lots of food drinks and something to read. Around 3 pm everyone is asked to pack it all up and return the unnecessary things to their cars and we were organized in groups to enter the stadium – around 6:30 pm we entered the stadium and the race to the best position started – we got inside the inner circle right next to the barricade where we wanted – great position – you can judge by the pictures:

the name of the tour gets a double meaning at the show here in Israel
it was very hot crowded and sticky and the show was sweet
I’m not much of a fan of Madonna – i know more then a few songs and “Madonna live” is a well known spectacle
that’s enough reasons for me to attend the show – and it was great.
the dances, the quality of the sound system , the video art show , the stage – it seems that every part of it moves and elevate
its a very tight and choreographed production – Madonna uses a lot with the help of the playback – singing is hard when you move so much (rope jumping for a whole song)
the chemistry with the crowd was a little off especially in the more quite songs and the new songs.
the climax of the show was during the song “4 minutes” – every one in the crowd were waiting for Justin Timberlake to pop out – but it didn’t happen
and during the song “Like a prayer” that shows some Hebrew writings from the Kabbala and at the end when Madonna wore the Israeli flag
a very fun and exhausting night….
my short video:
not mine:
and in two weeks – its the real deal – the greatest rock show on earth – U2 live!!!
The countdown begins…
In one month from today i will be landing in NYC to begin the biggest trip in my life (so far…)
First time for me in other continent than Europe

The trip will be for 3 weeks traveling across the US east coast
and the goal is to attend at 7 (yes seven!) U2 shows in these towns:
Boston MA,New-York,Washington DC,Charlottesville VA,Raliegh NC and Atlanta GA
U2 are currently about to finish their European tour , a sell-out stadium tour
with a new innovative, awesome monster-like new stage design that is 360 degrees viewable called: “The Claw”
besides the shows i will be touring a lot in the cities and driving a lot and most important – document everything!
by update this blog along the way ,with lots of pictures and video…
so keep in touch

Disney & Pixar – “UP”
Jul 26

Just saw the movie at the weekend
and again Pixar delivers! they never let me down and even surprise every time with the quality of their movies
its not just the graphics – which they are always at the top of the game and in “UP” its their first 3D movie which really add to the feel of the movie – the landscapes you see in the movie looks more real because of the 3D effect
the real quality in the Pixar films and especially in “UP” – its the original story
and this is an instant classic – it got it all:
- some drama – the quick overview of Carl’s life with his wife is a study case of how to sum up life through short cut scenes
- lots of comedy mostly from the talking dogs
- depth of characters of Carl and Russell the scout boy….their characters really evolved during thr movie
- some action scenes – classical chases
everyone will find something to relate to in this movie
that’s like in any other Pixar movie
and that why most of them are classics.
